Description
White Fronted Bee-Eaters are widely distributed throughout the southern part of Africa. As their name implies their diet predominantly consists of bees, but they will eat other flying insects should the need arise. They nest in colonies by borrowing and tunneling into sandy cliff sides and breeding pairs will mate for life. This particular bird was photographed in captivity inside one of the many aviaries at the San Diego Zoo.
