Description
A Claret Cup Cactus grows up from a rocky hillside beneath the twisted branches of alligator juniper and pinyon pines in the Coconino National Forest in Arizona. This cactus grows in mounds of small cylindrical or spherical shaped stems covered in sharp spines. It's vibrant red funnel shaped bloom is a favorite amongst pollinators like hummingbirds in the desert Southwest.
