Artist's Description
This Angolan Colobus Monkey, captured here in profile, is an old world Monkey native to Tanzania and Kenya, although this particular specimen was captured in captivity at the San Diego Zoo, in San Diego, California.
The monkey is positioned slightly to the left of the frame, with its face turned upward, gazing intently at something above. Its posture is upright, with its spine forming a gentle curve, suggesting a sense of ease and grace.
The monkey's fur is predominantly black with a long white mantle of hair framing its face creating a striking contrast against the darkness of its coat and the background. It also draws the viewers attention to the deeply emotional gaze.
