Description
A lobster mushroom (Hypomyces lactifluorum) growing wild in the Coconino County National forest in Arizona. What makes this mushroom so special? It is actually the work of a arasitic ascomycete fungus, that grows on some species of mushrooms turning them a bright reddish orange color that resembles a cooked lobster. When cooked, it gives off a beautiful saffron like color and the texture and taste slightly resembles that of lobster as well.
