Description
Red telephone boxes used to be a common site throughout the United Kingdom and its colonies. Now they are quickly becoming a thing of the past. With pay phone use rapidly declining, many have been sold off and repurposed as decor items, libraries or tourist attractions. Some are even being used to house defibrillators in the event of a medical emergency.
At the time this photograph was taken, these were still in use at Fort George in Scotland. The 18th century fortification is home to the Highlanders' Regimental Museum and still houses a working army barracks. A selective color post processing technique highlights the bright red boxes against a black and white background of the historic stone buildings.
