Description
A colorful loose watercolor painting of an African Elephant. African Elephants are comprised of two species, the endangered African Savannah Elephant, which is the largest land mammal on earth, and its slightly smaller relative, the critically endangered African Forest Elephant. Like many other species on Earth, elephants are faced with loss of habitat as human populations expand, but the biggest threat to both species of African Elephants is poaching for ivory trade. Despite legal protections, protected habitats approximately 10,000 African elephants are killed each year for their tusks.
